Michael Waldron Writing Star Wars Movie Prevents Him From Writing Loki S2

Benioff and Weiss detail their cancelled Star Wars trilogy, plus some Barside Buzz that there's still no script for the Rey sequel.

Michael Waldron writing Star Wars movie prevents him writing Loki S2. That’s what Waldron appears to be suggesting in a recent interview with Deadline. As you likely know, Waldron will be involved, but not head writer, for Loki Season 2. Those duties are being handled by Waldron’s collaborator and friend Eric Davis. Time jump to around 09:50 for the relevant part of the far ranging discussion had here on the podcast show linked above.

Waldron has just finished writing both Loki S1, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The writer talked to Deadline a little about how we feels he can only give his complete all to one or two writing projects at a time.

Whereas producer work (Loki S2), means he can have some input into other projects without the same pressure on his shoulders.

Waldron therefore said he would remain involved in Loki S2. However right now he’s writing a Star Wars movie for producer Kevin Feige. That movie is not set to come out for another 4-5 years. However who knows with Lucasfilm dates?

There was some fuss online that Waldron had just confirmed he was writing this Kevin Feige Star Wars movie. He didn’t. As you’ll see from the related link above we’ve known officially Waldron was writing Feige’s Star Wars movie from around the time Loki first debuted. Perhaps however, Waldron is now actively writing the script instead of the majority of his focus being on Multiverse of Madness, which is now out there in the wild.

So yeah, not new news that Waldron is writing this Star Wars movie. However it is interesting that Waldron seems to want to put all his writing focus into this one. For understandable reasons I’d say? Writing on the majority of Star Wars movie this far has been, poor at best.
