According to the Barside Buzz Mon Mothma is rumored to show up in both The Mandalorian S3 and Ahsoka. This of course will be in addition to her return in Andor Season 2. Actress Genevieve O’Reilly had been spotted around filming on shoots in California, and now MSW has heard the actress shows up in both The Mandalorian Season 3, and Ahsoka. If true, one wonders if they’d have to use some kind of ageing technique? I mean, given the Mothma of Andor and Mando would be around 20 years apart.

The outlet, which has a good hit rate for Star Wars scoops, says that they think the first half of Ahsoka will deal with problems being faced by the New Republic. This is where they think Mothma will show up, possibly as the leader of the New Republic.

As for Mando, there is no clue as to why Mothma may show up, but given we do seem to be dealing with the New Republic a little this season it’s not that crazy a leap to have a small scene of the Senate. Possibly even showing Mothma struggling with some of the issues thew relatively new government is facing?

One thing is clear from Season 3 of The Mandalorian. The New Republic is not the paradise some expected when they destroyed the Empire. Episode 3 specifically showed us that in the Senate, it’s the same wealthy, pampered politicians as before. To them the Empire or the New Republic are just two sides of the same coin. Not to mention that the New Republic’s methodology for reintegrating former Imps feels, dangerous.

I’m guessing in some ways life for Mon Mothma would have been simpler when she was a figurehead for the Rebels and didn’t have to deal with actual politics. It would be rather cool to see O’Reilly playing the character in some very different positions, many years apart. If there’s one thing Andor showed, it’s that O’Reilly is a top, top talent. O’Reilly’s increasing screentime for this part after a cut cameo in the ST is evidence of that in itself. Frankly I’m here for it. I love Mon Mothma (now) and happy to see more of her if this rumor checks out.
