Moon Knight Head Writer Explains Why They Created A New Villain For The Show

Jeremy Slater, the Moon Knight head writer explains why they created a new villain to face off against the titular hero for the show. My Moon Knight comic book knowledge is poor, so I wasn’t even aware that Harrow (Ethan Hawke) as a newly created character. I assume many of you watched Moon Knight‘s premiere for the first time today as I did? I really enjoyed the show, however I can kinda understand why some fans might have preferred a villain they already knew from the comics. Here’s what Slater says is the reason they created Harrow.

Coming from a place of ignorance I guess I had no feelings one way or another about this choice. However reading some of the comments from fans of Moon Knight, there are definite some who take exception to Slater’s statement that there were no other recognizable villains for the character to face.

Maybe some of these more familiar rogues could show up later down the line for Moon Knight? We think Moon Knight is a limited series, but there’s no way Isaac came on board for one series and done. With rumors already linking him with connections to Blade and Werewolf by Night I guess we will say where Moon Knight appears next. What about a movie at some point? That could allow for a greater budget to do some of the rogues justice, based on what I am reading?

So far, I will say I really enjoyed the premiere of Moon Knight, perhaps coming from a place of ignorance gives me a different perspective than usual with a Marvel show? I enjoyed Isaac’s performance and the ‘explain nothing’ nature of the opening episode. I am looking forward to seeing more next week.
