Mortal Kombat Actor Says The Film Pulls No Punches When It Come To The Fatalities

Hopefully, the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot will do much to redeem the franchise and give it a film deserving of its video game legacy. As I’ve said before and don’t mind saying again the films of the 1990s were absolutely terrible. And being a kid who one day walked into the arcade to play Street Fighter II and found Mortal Kombat.

As most kids my age, after dropping in a few quarters, my mind was blown. Not only could we kick the s**t out of our friends, but we could also end their character in, what was at the time, the most brutal ways our adolescent minds could imagine. Which was the reason for the parental outrage that came soon after.

According to actor Lewis Tan, who will appear in the film in an unknown role, the movie will feature fatalities. Apparently ones brutal and intense enough to make Tan fell nauseated. The actor recently spoke with Comicbook.com and you can check out what he had to say below.

“Let me just say this, there were some days on set that I felt sick. I’m not kidding. They did not… They did not hold back.”

Well, that’s good to hear. While the films of the 90s more or less stuck to the game’s story, they also took some liberties that didn’t sit well with many fans. For me, one of those liberties was Scorpion’s spear being alive, I just thought it was, well, kind of stupid. Another that comes to mind is Scorpion and Sub-Zero being loyal to Shang Tsung.

Hopefully, this reboot is leaps and bounds better than the two previous films. I do wish that Kevin Tancharoen, who brought us two fantastic seasons of the YouTube series, Mortal Kombat Legacy, would have stayed on this big-screen reboot, as he was at one time attached.
