The theater subscription service MoviePass has suspended operations while they finish up improvements on their app. The news comes in the wake of Regal Cinemas plans to unveil thehir own monthly subscription service, which you can read about in the RELATED section.
If you’ve been following the MoviePass situation you know the company had not had a good last few months and to me it’s a surprise the company is still functioning, but perhaps the work they’re putting in can turn the company around.
Mitch Lowe, MoviePass CEO:
“There’s never a good time to have to do this. But to complete the improved version of our app, one that we believe will provide a much better experience for our subscribers, it has to be done.”

More from Lowe:
“We have listened and we understand the frustrations of our subscribers. To provide the level of service you deserve and we can be proud of, we need to improve our mobile app. We plan to make this improvement by utilizing an enhanced technology platform, which is in the final stages of completion.”
I always felt like what MoviePass was offering was too good to be true, and while moviegoers enjoyed a great deal, the business plan was not one of financial stability, and over the last year the company have tried many fixes to the situation.
