Parenting is a difficult task that depending on the situation brings unique challenges. But at the end of the day, we just want what we think is best for our kids. Sometimes that means accidentally being overprotective and not wanting them to venture into certain situations. While some of these are completely valid, some are irrational and could actually hold back the growth and development of a child. To make this easier to understand, why don’t we use a Disney short? One titled, Far From the Tree.
Far From the Tree comes from Disney Animation Studios. It is directed by Natalie Nourigat and produced by Ruth Strother. It made its world premiere at the 2021 Annecy International Film Festival this past June. It’s now ready for its global release this November 24th, 2021 alongside the feature film from the same studio, Encanto.
Far From the Tree is set in the Pacific Northwest. Taking its inspiration from the Oregon coast where the director and her family visited many times as a child. It explores the relationship between a parent and a child. Specifically, the emotional conflicts that come up when one’s need to protect a child against danger comes head to head with the child’s need to grow and explore.
