Netflix has ordered a new anime show that will be set in Mexico. Titled Seis Manos, the show will follow three orphans, who are also martial arts students, and after the killing of their master, join forces with a United States DEA Agent and Mexican Federal officer.

Chief Marketing Officer of VIZ Media, Brad Woods:

“With over 30 years of experience bringing the best manga and anime to North America, Seis Manos will be VIZ Media’s first original animated property. We’re thrilled to bring Seis Manos to life with our partners at Netflix and Powerhouse Animation. This show combines the absolute best in action and storytelling.”

Director of Japan & Anime for Netflix, John Derderian:

“We’re excited to be working with such a fantastic group of animators and storytellers to produce our first original anime series set in Mexico. Our Mexican subscribers, and viewers in Latin America more broadly, have a tremendous passion for anime. We look forward to sharing this completely unique series with them, and with the growing community of anime fans around the world,”

Though I have never really been into anime, though I do like the film, Howl’s Moving Castle, lately my friends have been pushing me to give it a try. I think the plot of this show sounds interesting enough and might be a nice way to familiarize myself with the genre. Alvaro Rodriguez and Brad Graeber are co-writers on the project and it will be directed by Willis Bulliner.
