Taking place eight months after the final events of season two, Liberty High students Clay (Dylan Minnette), Jessica (Aisha Boe), Tony (Christian Navarro), Justin (Brandon Flynn), Zach (Ross Butler), and the rest of the connected crew are struggling with keeping secret the attempted shooting of the spring dance by Tyler (Devin Druid)—while also helping him recover after the sexual assault he suffered that triggered his actions. Their already high stress levels increase even further when Bryce (Justin Prentice)—the rapist behind the attacks on Jessica and Hannah (Katherine Langford)—turns up dead during Homecoming season. With Bryce’s mother Nora (Brenda Strong) pushing for answers, Clay and the others attempt to find the truth behind Bryce’s death before the authorities accuse them all of murder. Season three looks to add the mudrer-mystery element while continuing to focus on the trauma these select students have suffered over the previous two seasons.
After this season, the Netflix series has been given the green-light to deliver one more season—season four—before closing the doors on this class of Liberty High School. The third season of 13 Reasons Why will premiere at the end of this month (August 23rd) on the streaming service.
