Netflix’s GLOW To Launch A 4 Issue Mini-Series Comic Book In March

The ladies of Netflix’s series GLOW have worked the wrestling ring for two season now. While fans of the series wait for the third season, IDW Publishing has announced via The Hollywood Reporter that there is a four issue comic book mini-series coming in March based on the series.

The book will be written by Tini Howard who has worked on the WWE and Euthanauts comic books along with artwork by Hannah Templer. The book will feature an original story based off of the critically acclaimed series that stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin and Marc Maron. The members of the GLOW find themselves accidentally scheduled for a charity wrestling match with real lady wrestlers. It will be overseen by the show’s co-creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who said in a statement that, “We’re thrilled to work with IDW to bring new stories to life on the page and in the ring. Can we smoosh 14 women into a little frame? Only time will tell… but we couldn’t be more excited!”

Howard also commented about the opportunity two write a series based on GLOW, which is she is a fan of, “I’m more than just a GLOW fan, I’m a wrestling fan, too. I’ve written wrestling comics before, and I adore it. Wrestling and comic books are a natural fit for more than just tights and fights. Each of the gorgeous ladies has either developed her own character or adapted to one thrust upon her, and making that identity her own is not dissimilar to, say, putting on a bat costume.”

It will be interesting to see how the characters from GLOW translate to the pages of a four issue mini-series. Are you a fan of the GLOW series on Netflix? Would you be interested in a comic book based on the show? Let us know in the comment section below!

The first two seasons of GLOW are available to stream on Netflix, while the mini-series debuts in March, 2019.
