It hasn’t been long since Netflix pretty much sniped the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series from The CW. Now, the series that was originally supposed to spin off of Riverdale is now heading off in a whole new direction with the streaming service, and crossovers with Riverdale aren’t exactly a sure thing.

It looks like they’re hard at work making this series a reality, they’ve even got a draft of the series premiere episode, which is titled “Chapter One: ‘October Country,'” as revealed by a snapshot of the title page.

Of course, it’s only one episode, and from what we know, Netflix has ordered two 10-episode seasons of the show, so they still have their work cut out for them. However, it is a crucial first step for this dark series.

As someone who enjoyed Riverdale to begin with, only to fall off later, I can’t help but wonder if this switch from The CW to Netflix will make a big difference in storytelling. Rather than be constrained to typical formatting or specific ad-friendly guidelines, the producers are free to create whatever they truly want. I’m interested to see what difference it will make for Greg Berlanti and co., and if it’ll pique the interest of more potential audiences.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is based on the comic of the same name, which is a darker take on the Archie Comics character Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
