New Doomsday Casting Rumors – I Can’t Cover Them Due To Leaks – Marvel Has A Problem | Barside Buzz Editorial

There's new Doomsday casting rumors. However, this is more about why I can't cover them in good conscience due to leaks. I think Marvel has a problem!

There’s new Doomsday casting rumors, however this is more about why I can’t cover them in good conscience due to leaks. I think Marvel has a problem!

Last week the Avengers: Doomsday trailer was shown to those at CinemaCon and you can find a description of that trailer in the related link below.

Now, since then there have been some additional cast members confirmed (Kathryn Newton). That’s fine because she was in the trailer. However, I said in that related article that we now have a serious issues when it comes to Doomsday rumors.

The trailer, plus a few other little details here and there have pretty much identified a legit plot leak from an early test screening. The accuracy is too great for me to consider it a lucky fake. Ergo, I, who am not an insider could literally pump out 3-4 big scoops based on this leak and pretend I have a source. My hit rate (I bet) will be 100%.

That brings me to an unfortunate situation for genuine insiders. Jeff Sneider this weekend ran a rumor of a certain actor/character being in Doomsday not previously announced. Now, I have no doubt Sneider got this information in the usual way and was not trawling the internet looking for plot leaks. Yet, I with no inside access could tell you right where this person appears in the film. Also, who else is there with them that’s not been announced either.

The Problem

You can see the issue I’m sure from my point of view.

This is not good for me, an aggregate site with a focus on specific genres, nor the insiders themselves. I rely on my knowledge of the best insiders to curate a better rumor experience for my readers. Therefore, I cannot really cover rumors around Doomsday any longer (of this nature). If I share them, I basically confirm they match the plot leaks, If I know they are false, I would not share them. If anyone genuinely just wants all that information then I’m sure if I could find it, so can you.

We can still cover any rumors for Spider-Man: Brand New Day or Secret Wars. I will also say that this did happen for Endgame as well. However, it took until the movie actually released for people to work out the (previously dismissed) plot leak was genuine. This time we are 8 months out and I think this is going to become a problem for Disney/Marvel to lock down. You can probably see the temptation any wannabe scooper would have to spam these spoilers everywhere.

I personally wish I had never read that leak, something I did before the trailers essentially confirmed it was legit. I love rumors and speculation, I don’t want to read a film’s script before I see it. Yes there will be changes to the final release, but things like hidden characters that have shot scenes is unlikely to end up on the cutting room floor. Nor is the finale and fates of certain characters.

Marvel, I think you have a bit of a problem that’s only going to get worse. I won’t benefit from this leak, but how many other sites/social media leakers will follow suit?

I will still be covering any quotes from those involved or official news on Doomsday. However, It would be unfair for me to continue running rumors I’m 98% sure will be in the film come December. Leave any thoughts below, tell me if you think I’m wrong as well?
