New G.I. Joe Movie In The Works To Follow Up Snake Eyes

Hollywood has taken their shot at the G.I. Joe franchise. While it didn’t work out quite as well as I’m sure they hoped, they ain’t stopping. We already know they’re making Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, basically starting with the most interesting character first. But don’t think for a second they’re going to sit around and wait for the box office receipts to come in before acting on the next. That ain’t the smart business thing to do.

As such, it’s no surprise that they’re getting the ball rolling. Paramount and Hasbro are in negotiations with scribes Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse to pen the script. The duo worked together on film’s Race and Seberg, among many other projects. Perhaps most notable is the fact that they did an early draft of the Live Die Repeat sequel, so they’ll at least have some big-budget experience. They also did some polishing on Snake Eyes.

What is perhaps most interesting is how they plan on building out this world. Instead of having a standard Snake Eyes sequel, this will act as a follow-up but will grow the world in the process. Not to sully the waters with some speculation, but it sounds a bit like how Batman v Superman expanded the DCEU, but also acted as a sequel to Man of Steel.

Of course, without us having any idea how Snake Eyes will feel as a film, it’s hard to get excited or pessimistic about this project. At the very least, I’m happy to hear they’ll be expanding the story and world rather than focusing on individual characters before mashing them together. how do you feel about this new G.I. Joe movie? Let us know your thoughts down below!
