As the days tick down toward the end of September, the essence of Autumn and Halloween begins to make its way into the atmosphere. Costumes and decorations are appearing on shelves in stores as well as pumpkin-themed desserts and beverages appearing at bakeries and coffee shops. Riding along with that essence is Netflix.

Last season, the streaming service released an epic trailer for the second season of Stranger Things. Perfectly balanced with intrigue and suspense while Michael Jackson’s Thriller played (with added emphasis on the Vincent Price monologue), the trailer was easily one of the top trailers of the year and set the tone for what was to come in the popular series’ second outing. While the third season of Stranger Things has been pushed back to a 2019 release, Netflix feels it has just the ticket for this 2018 Halloween season.

Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, the adaption of the current comic book series that is a darker take on the popular ’90s television series Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, will make its long-awaited premiere on October 26th. Just last week, the first official trailer for the series was released and now, Netflix has released still images from the series.

Netflix’s description of the series states that “as her 16th birthday nears, Sabrina must choose between the witch world of her family and the human world of her friends.” Entertainment Weekly’s description of the series contains a little more detail:

“Reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature – half-witch, half-mortal – while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”

The series stars Kiernan Shipke (Mad Men) as Sabrina, as well as Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman) and Miranda Otto (Homeland) as Sabrina’s witchy aunts Hilda and Zelda. The show is created and run by writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the CCO of Archie Comics, creator of the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina comic book and current showrunner of the CW’s Riverdale, which is a moodier adaption of Archie Comics.

Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina premieres on October 26th on Netflix.
