Electronic Arts announced earlier today that it has partnered with Middle-earth Enterprises, on the development of a new free-to-play mobile game. The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is a Collectible Role-Playing Game (RPG) that will bring the fantasy and adventure of The Lord of the Rings to existing fans and new audiences alike in a strategic, social-competitive experience.
If this all sounds familiar you probably are playing hero collector mobile games like Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, Marvel Strike Force, or Raid Shadow Legends. Just like those games The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth will feature immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, deep collection systems, and a wide roster of characters from across the vast universe of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Players battle through iconic stories from the world of Tolkien and take up the fight against the great evils of Middle-earth.

This game is in active development by Capital Games who are also responsible for Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. SWGOH is the most profitable Star Wars game in history and is still going strong with an avid fan base. What makes some gamers nervous is that Capital Games is not a large game developer company. For over five years Capital Games has only been working on SWGOH and most fans of the game can tell you it hasn’t always been pretty. With a new game to work on and maintain, it seems that Capital Games will have to divide its time wisely or hit the end button on SWGOH.
The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is expected to enter limited regional beta testing this summer.
