The dystopian civil war seems like it’ll break out at any moment in real life with New Order.
With tensions, protests, and revolts happening around the world, Michel Franco’s international movie New Order pits the suffering majority to revolt against the wealthy and rich class that lives in their castles.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Conceived six years ago, Michel Franco’s near-future dystopia feels ripped from the headlines that haven’t yet been written. While protests rage in the streets, Marianne’s high society family prepares for her wedding. At first, only splatters of green paint and the appearance of Rolando, a former employee seeking emergency medical funds, intrude on the festivities. But soon the party is unable to keep the reckoning at bay, and what follows is a swift disintegration of law and order defined first by class lines, then by disastrous government recapitulation.

The movie stars Diego Boneta (Luis Miguel: The Series), Naian Gonzalez Norvind (Leona), Samantha Yazareth Anaya (Te acuerdas de mi), Dario Yazbek Bernal (Daniel and Ana), and Patricia Bernal (Amar te duele). Mexican director Michel Franco (Chronic, After Lucia) directed the wrote the screenplay.
New Order looks captivating with the intense drama and stylized usage of the green colors. It’ll be compelling to watch this fictionalized tale of the poor man’s revolt against the wealthy. The movie certainly will spark conversations after the credits start rolling and initiate the debate. Too bad in the world news of today, the events of the film may fold too close to many lives.
New Order arrives in theaters on May 21.
