New Top Gun: Maverick Trailer And Poster – Soak In The Nostalgia

New Top Gun: Maverick Trailer And Poster Blasts Off The Promotional Campaign

Check out the new Top Gun: Maverick trailer and poster courtesy of Paramount Pictures. Maverick was delayed from its initial release due to COVID and is blasting its way into theaters on May 27th. Before getting into the official synopsis, let’s see that new trailer shall we?

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”

Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

I guess the thing I could say about this trailer for Maverick is that it feels very much tonally like the original movie. I’d wondered whether ‘Maverick’ would actually be the main character, or would it instead be ‘Goose’ Jr, aka ‘Rooster’? I guess from the look of this trailer, Pete Mitchell is once again the lead player in this story. Yeah I know, what was I thinking, idiot moment I admit.

I have to say, I’m not sure if this movie is going to work or not? This feels like another one where you’re just supposed to enjoy the member-berries and point at the screen a lot. In other words, here is some nostalgia for you, now hand over the cash. Yet, within this nostalgia wave there have been failures, for sure, but also successes and everything in between. Obviously, as a child of the 1980’s, I’m going to watch Top Gun: Maverick. I mean movies about guys in shades flying jet fighters was half my childhood.

I guess we will find out if Maverick has anything left other than the nostalgia factor or not on May 27th.

What do you think of this new Top Gun: Maverick trailer and poster? Thoughts below as always.
