Nicholas Cage Thinks He Would Have Made A Good Joker

While Nicholas Cage was once set to play the Man of Steel, that project thankfully never came to fruition. Cage eventually did get to portray a superhero on screen in the poorly-received Ghost Rider films. In a recent interview with JoBlo, Cage said he always thought he would have made a good Joker, but also revealed that the days of him playing a superhero are likely behind him:

“It would be the perfect one for me to go even more off the rails than I’ve ever done before and, y’know, it’d be fun.”

As for there being a superhero in his future, Cage said:

“I mean, I think my comic book days are kind of…I’m onto other things, but I always thought I’d make a great Joker and I always thought that I would’ve been a good villain in one of the Marvel [movies] like Doctor Doom. But, Doctor Doom you have to wear that mask, but I thought the story leading up to Doctor Doom could’ve been interesting. At this point if I was to go back into the format it would probably have to be as a villain.”

Who knows, perhaps in the right setting, with the right character, Cage could fit in somewhere within the DC and Marvel universes  (Doctor Doom is an interesting idea). Until then Cage and anyone wanting to see him in a cape will have to settle for him voicing Superman in the upcoming Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.
