Nicolas Cage In Talks To Play Nicolas Cage

Well, it finally happened, According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Nicolas Cage is in talks to play himself in an upcoming film. In what sounds more like a bad episode of Black Mirror, Cage will go full meta and take on what may be his most difficult role yet, himself. The film is titled The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent.

The story would follow the onscreen Cage deep in debt and appearing at the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire, who also turns out to be the leader of a drug cartel. Even so, the character Cage begins writing a script with the billionaire that is said to be somewhat similar to the film itself, double meta.

I am all in on this, no trailer needed. I’ve always been a fan off sort of, off the wall thinking such as this in films. And wouldn’t it be fantastic if Cage was at least nominated for an Oscar for playing himself in a film? Tom Gormican is attached to direct The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent from a script by Gormican and Kevin Etten.
