Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Almost Donated To Petition For New Game of Thrones Finale

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau almost donated to petition for new Game of Thrones finale? Read on for more details.

If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, you probably know the Season 8 was little bit, rubbish. The powerful storytelling of previous Thrones seasons had been replaced with high budget battles. The plot of Thrones began to service these action scenes instead of the other way round. So what about that petition to remake the finale, or even the final season?

Well, I wish I lived in a universe where that was possible, but it will never happen. The actor who played Jaime, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently spoke with Variety and admitted he almost signed that petition. However, it was really just as a joke from Coster-Waldau. Check out what he had to say about the Game of Thrones finale and the petition to remake it.

“I didn’t follow it at all. [Pauses.] Obviously, I heard about it. I was aware of the petition for a new ending, which I thought was hilarious. I almost wanted to donate to that petition. HBO saying, “You’re right, so many people want it, we’re going to do it.” I think everyone had their own opinion. I find the world of fandom really interesting. Everyone wanted something specific and different from what they got. It’s a combination of — you imagine an ending; but also, I think if you’re a hardcore fan, it was really upsetting that it ended. You lived with this for eight seasons. There is still a massive community dedicated to Game of Thrones. I think there was a real fear that was going to go away. It had to end.”

I’m not sure about a massive community, all the old forums and subreddits I used to check for Thrones are full of fans ripping the ending to shreds. The only excitement left online for Game of Thrones I can find is reserved for the upcoming books. Author George R. R. Martin is currently writing The Winds of Winter. Martin has another book to write if he ever finishes Winds. it’ll be a while if ever before fans get Martin’s conclusion to Game of Thrones. I’ll bet that Jamie Lannister gets a different ending in the books, that’s for sure.

For me, the showrunners Benioff and Weiss had had enough, and looked to end things as quick as they could across two reduce episode seasons. Martin, and HBO both felt Thrones should have been 10 seasons long. To be honest the ending Benioff and Weiss went for needed that kind of time to make sense. I genuinely think in later years they will come to regret finishing this show off quickly.

What do you think of the news Nikolaj Coster-Waldau almost donated to petition for new Game of Thrones finale? It’ll never happen, but do wish HBO would remake Season 8 and expand the show to 10 seasons? Leave your thoughts below.
