There has been no approach for Liam Neeson to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi the actor said once again when asked recently. Neeson recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was asked again about whether he was in Obi-Wan Kenobi as reported by THR.
“I heard Ewan McGregor was going to do a series,” Neeson said. “No, I don’t think so. No, I haven’t been approached.” He then insinuated that they could not afford him to be in the series. Kimmel somewhat took him at his word, but pointed out that the seasoned screen veteran could just as easily be lying through his teeth.
This is the second time Neeson has been asked this question and given the same response. There are three possibilities here. First, that Neeson has not been approached by even Qui-Gon Jinn’s voice will not appear in the show. Secondly, this would only be a bit of voice work, no physical appearance. It’s therefore possible Lucasfilm will approach the actor sometime in post? After all, Neeson was pretty willing to cut dialogue in the past for a pay check. I guarantee he’d record a few lines on his laptop one morning for a bit of financial reward. Thirdly, Neeson could just be flat out lying, which is all the rage when it comes to Disney projects these days. Actor’s are funnily enough good at acting, and therefore good at lying, and they do it all the time.

Which is correct I have no way to tell you. So far all I can tell you is what we spoke about on this week’s edition of The Cantina which will be published today.
As far as Shockey is concerned having spoken to LRM‘s sources, they don’t seem to know much about Qui-Gon. Far as they can tell that character is not a focus of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Instead the focus of this show will be Vader and Obi-Wan themselves. Likely Kenobi has already gone through his training at the hands of Qui-Gon by this point. You can catch the full chat when that podcast published later today.
There is also coverage of our own scoop this week, linked above, as well as all the other Star Wars news we have seen this week, so check it out later. In the meantime, what do you make of this news that there’s been no approach for Liam Neeson to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi? I would love to see even one conversation through the Force, but that’s just me. Let us know what you think?
