The Wheel of Time panel for NY Comic-Con has been announced and dated. However, notably, there is no Barney Harris in The Wheel of Time panel for this event, and likely won’t be in any going forward. If you missed the news when it was announced, you can catch up in the related link below. However we don’t know much? Barney Harris who plays Matrim Cauthon in WoT Season 1 has been recast with Donal Flinn for Season 2 onwards. That’s literally all we know.
The reasons for the casting change are unknown and to speculate on this can just be a silly game. All we know is that whatever the situation was, Barney is not even going to be doing promo for the show in Season 1. Before we go further, what I mean is by speculating wildly, fans might decide Barney has done something horrific. It could then come out later that there was health or family reasons for the change, or simply just a business decision. So until we hear more, which may be no time soon, we won’t speculate.
Here is the announcement of The Wheel of Time panel at NY Comic-Con on October 8th, at 2.30pm ET.

From right to left we have, showrunner Rafe Judkins, then Season 1 lead Rosamund Pike who plays Moiraine, and her warder Lan, played by Daniel Henney. Followed on by the Emond’s field five…er four for now. Zoe Robins as Nynaeve, Madeleine Madden as Egwene, Josha Stradowski as Rand, and Marcus Rutherford as Perrin.

The recasting of Matt is not ideal. However, as I have said previously the Mat we see in Season 1 likely won’t be that major a role. Mat’s role grows into a fan favorite only really from the third in the fourteen book series. Hopefully then, this is the best time for a recast before fans really start to fall in love with the character as he grows. We shall see.
Anything exciting happens at this The Wheel of Time NY Comic-Con panel on October 8th, and we will be sure to cover it as soon as we can. What do you think of the fact there’s no Barney Harris in The Wheel of Time panel? Blood and bloody ashes, sound off below.
