Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the many upcoming Star Wars Disney+ projects from Lucasfilm. Though he didn’t give away any secrets, star Ewan McGregor talked with THR, commenting on the project.
First, the iconic actor shared his excitement, going back to play Obi-Wan Kenobi in an era where more people like the prequel films:
I’m really excited about it. Maybe more so than the first ones, because I’m older — I just turned 50 — and I’m just in a much better place.

Did you think I’d make you click an article for just that? McGregor had a few other things to say about returning to the role. The actor also commented on preferring using the StageCraft tech from The Mandalorian rather than working for George Lucas who built less and less sets each film:
They project [the virtual backgrounds] onto this massive LED screen. So if you’re in a desert, you’re standing in the middle of a desert. If you’re in the snow, you’re surrounded by snow. And if you’re in a cockpit of a starfighter, you’re in space. It’s going to feel so much more real.
McGregor shared that Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently doing screen tests with other actors ahead of shooting. When asked if one of the screen tests could be with a young Luke Skywalker, McGregor answered:
That’s very possible. I don’t know.
It’s a good bet we likely will see a young Luke Skywalker at some point in Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, I doubt we would see the character for long. Who knows though? We do know that both Owen and Beru Lars are in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, so it’s a good bet Luke is with them isn’t it? What do you think of Ewan McGregor’s comments, and what are you hoping for with Obi-Wan Kenobi?
