Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Confirmed As Standalone Season (Again) By Ewan McGregor

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series could only be a standalone season.

Out of all the Star Wars spinoff series we’re getting, the one I think deserves it most is the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Forget Ahsoka. Forget Thrawn. It’s all about what that Jedi master was doing on Tatooine in the years between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It’s a series fans have been waiting for since Disney first acquired Lucasfilm, and we’re still waiting for it all these years later.

But it is happening. It’s been confirmed by both Disney and Ewan McGregor and will likely shoot early next year. But what can we expect from the show in terms of length? It’s been reported in the past that a single season is most likely, but fans have still been holding out for more. Well, I’m here to drive that last nail into the coffin.

“As I understand, it’s a standalone season,” star Ewan McGregor told ET Online. But he didn’t end the comment without a slight glimmer of hope. “We’ll see. Who knows?”

For all we know, the Obi-Wan series could end in a way that is fit for a standalone season. That being said, Disney has rarely been one to ignore the power of the almighty dollar. If it’s anywhere near the level of The Mandalorian in popularity, I can’t imagine they won’t push for another season.

As it stands, though, I’d imagine they’re planning for just one season. It may be a disappointment for some diehard fans, but it’s not like there aren’t enough other Disney series in the works for us to indulge in.
