Dawnshard draft 2 is done!

If you are still playing catch-up on The Stormlight Archive before Rythm of War hits, you’re running out of time. Its November 17 release date is right around the corner, but that’s not the only thing you have to worry about. Prior to the release, backers of author Brandon Sanderson Kickstarter will also have digital access to Dawnshard. The novella follows the Thaylen merchant Rysn and Bridge Four’s Lopen.

Sanderson has been hard at work cranking out the novella these past few weeks. It wasn’t long ago that we reported on his completion of the first draft of the thing. Now, as it turns out, he’s already completed the second draft of the thing. The update comes courtesy of his official website, which offers progress bars of his current projects.

That wasn’t the only update offered by Sanderson. A couple of days back, he revealed to his Facebook fans that they were about to start beta reads. Furthermore, he put a call out for paraplegic readers. As you may know, Rysn suffered an accident in one of the earlier books that led to her become paraplegic herself.

“As you may already know, this is about Rysn—who is a parapalegic [sic],” Sanderson wrote. “I’d really like to have someone in the beta read who is paraplegic for help with paraplegic-specific issues. I have some readers already who use a wheelchair, and others who are broad experts in disability subjects. But what I don’t have is someone with specific experience in this area. Ideally, this would be a person who is also already familiar with the Stormlight books, and who is interested in reading the novella early (on kind of a tight deadline) to offer some help to get the viewpoint right. If you fit this description, would you consider letting me know?”
