I’m not very popular with my friends when I say that I think Parks and Recreation is better than The Office. Don’t get me wrong, I love the shenanigans over at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But I would much rather venture City Hall in Pawnee, Indiana.
Sadly Parks and Recreation wrapped up in 2015 after seven seasons. Over that time it earned 14 Emmy nominations. Since then many of us have binge-watched the series over and over hoping that one day we would get new episodes or at least a reunion.

Lucky for us it’s kind of happening. According to The Wrap the cast of the beloved series is returning for a one-night charity special benefiting Feeding America. This standalone scripted special will show Pawnee’s most dedicated civil servant, Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler. Here she is making the announcement via the Parks and Recreation Twitter page.
Leslie Knope wants to let you in on a secret… On April 30, #ParksAndRec is returning to NBC for “A Parks and Recreation Special”. Our workplace proximity associates, along with our neighbors at @StateFarm, are raising money for @FeedingAmerica. Join us! https://t.co/YuyWBTYmrH pic.twitter.com/ZId6Lq3rkJ

Joining her will the rest of the cast including Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir, and Retta.
They are coming together to raise money for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund. This assists food banks in securing the resources they need to serve the community during these difficult times. Sponsors State Farm and Subaru of America along with NBCUniversal and the writers, producers, and cast of the series will match donations up to a total of $500,000 through May 21st.

It will be a lot of fun to see all of these actors and actresses back on the small screen. Especially these days when we could use a good laugh. It also doesn’t hurt that they are doing this for a good cause.
