Patrick White on Bringing the Russian Horror Folklore to Life in Queen of Spades [Exclusive Interview]

Never play with mirrors and the “Bloody Mary” game.

In the horror movie Queen of Spades, director Patrick White revives a Russian folklore that summons a haunt through a mirror in a similar game with a mirror. Unbeknownst to teens, they’ll learn the hard way not to mess with dark rituals as silly children games.

Here’s the synopsis:

According to legend, an ominous entity known as the Queen of Spades can be summoned by performing an ancient ritual. Those brave enough draw a door and a staircase on a mirror, in darkness, and say her name three times. What happens next must be experiences to be believed. Four teenagers decide to summon the Queen of Spades as a joke. But they could never imagine the horrors this innocent prank has condemned them and their love ones to. The evil entity won’t stop until she get their souls.

The cast includes Ava Preston, Daniel Kash, Kaelen Ohm, Eric Osborne, Jamie Bloch, Nabil Rajo, and Krista Marchand. Patrick White directed the movie from the screenplay by John Ainslie, which is based on an original story by Svyatoslav Podgaevskiy.
