Back in August, we were formally introduced to John Cena’s Peacemaker. He was featured in James Gunn’s action-packed film, The Suicide Squad. This reveal was important as it had already been announced that Peacemaker would have his own spin-off series over at HBO Max. Luckily, his character was received well from audiences who were left wanting for of his sometimes very dry humor.

Today at DC FanDome, they revealed the teaser trailer for Peacemaker. We also learned that the series will debut on Thursday, January 13th, 2022. You can check out below!

Peacemaker looks like it’s going to be a lot more of the same kind of humor that we saw in The Suicide Squad. This is fine because Gunn did such a great job. This series is going to explore the origins of Cena’s character. He is a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at all costs, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. My favorite scene in the trailer is when he is hugging the Eagle, what can be better than that? Also, there is a small part of me that thinks that there may be moments where Vigilante may steal the show. Oh, and did we see daddy issues?

Joining Cena on the cast of Peacemaker is Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith. Gunn wrote all eight episodes for this series and directed five including the premiere episode. Peter Safran and Matt Miller serve as executive producers on the series. WIth Cena as co-executive producer.
