Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has confirmed that Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, who is stuck in the quantum realm, does not have the Pym Particle disc that he used to escape the realm in the first film. In speaking with Huffington Post, Reed explains that Lang is wearing a new suit and that he already used the particle disc method once.

“This is a new suit, so it really wouldn’t have the same growth that he had in the first movie … I would answer, ‘No, he does not have it.’ He can’t go to that well twice,”

This was always Reed’s intention.

“It seemed like we kind of knew what we wanted to do with or to Scott Lang and then the other ones, it was just sort of like we talked about all these different versions and where we ended up just felt like, ‘OK, this feels right. We know where things could go from here.’”

At the end of the film, Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne (before she turned to dust due to Thanos’ snap) warned Scott Lang of the time vortexes within the quantum realm. This probably wasn’t a throwaway line and means that Rudd’s Ant-Man could show up in past Avengers scenes in future films.

“Based on the science that we’ve set up in the first movie and this one, I won’t rule out the possibility. Because, again, we are dealing with a time vortex. That could happen.”

I would enjoy this, as I’ve always loved how time travel movies show a familiar scene from a different angle, and there are many scenes in the Avengers films that would be really cool to revisit and see from a different angle.
