Pierce Brosnan Will Play Doctor Fate In Black Adam

Well done Pierce Brosnan. Not only is the actor immortalized for playing Agent 007 James Bond, but According to The Hollywood Reporter, he has now landed the role of Doctor Fate in the upcoming Black Adam film starring Dwayne Johnson.

Hopefully, Brosnan can do for Doctor Fate what Robert Downey Jr. did for Iron Man. The character is not what one would call widely known. Not as far as the general moviegoing public is concerned. Though I have a feeling that Brosnan may change that.

I am familiar with Doctor Fate from watching Smallville (ugh that was probably my most regretful television watching experience). From what I remember he had some gnarly superpowers. Abilities include healing factor, clairvoyance, astral projection, energy negation, illusion casting, and immortality. Oh, and he also spots a sweet-ass medieval-type helmet.

I think this is a brilliant bit of casting. And I look forward to both learning more about the character and seeing Brosnan’s portrayal. Not to mention we will all finally get to see Dwayne Johnson as a big-name comic character in a big-budget production. It’s been quite the wait, even before the near industry-wide shutdowns.

Brosnan’s casting rounds out the Justice Society of America for Black Adam. He joins a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, Aldis Hodge, who will play Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Noah Centineo stepping into the role of Atom Smasher.
