Prey

Today Hulu has released the trailer for the Predator franchise prequel titled, Prey. This upcoming June will be thirty-five years since the release of the classic film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In between then and now have been a variety of stories via a variety of media. This film will take the classic aliens back 300 years in the past. Below you can get your first look at the film that is set to be released on the streaming platform on August 5th, 2022.

Here is the synopsis for 20th Century Studios’ Prey

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison. Producers on the project include John Davis and Jhane Myers, with Lawrence Gordon, Marty Ewing, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Marc Toberoff serving as executive producers.

It’s very significant to note that the filmmakers have said that they were “committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples”. Evidence of this would include a cast that is comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s Talent. These include Amber Midthunder, newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope.

The 20th Century Studios action-thriller Prey premieres on August 5th, 2022 exclusively on Hulu.
