Producer Confirms X-Men: TAS Revival Talks With Disney – Ball In Disney’s Court

I don't normally review animated series, but I feel a connection to this one, so the question is, is X-Men 97' any good?

Remember X-Men: The Animates Series? You might be interested to hear from producer Larry Houston about the X-Men: TAS revival talks with Disney then? This would not be the first time we have heard hints that X-Men: TAS could be revived and finished on Disney+. X-Men: TAS first hit in the ’90’s and I remember it fondly as my introduction to the X-Men story. I only knew Wolverine from the comics as a kid.

However, the following video from Houston is the most official news we’ve heard yet. Houston spoke about the revival on a virtual panel from Wizard World. Check it out, or skip for the transcript.

“We’ve had talks, but that’s about it. We’ve made conversation and it’s up to them to make the decision, but we’ve let them know that we’re all available for whatever they want to do in the future. If we could do a special, a one-off episode, or a five-part episode. Whatever they wanted to do if we had all the original team,” he continued. “That’s what I would come out of retirement for.”

Some of the cast members who voiced characters on the show were quick to offer their services if the show was to continue. However, for now it seems that while the team are willing to come back, it all depends on whether Disney feels it is a worthwhile expenditure? In this post-Coronavirus world, an animated show is far easier to pull off than live-action. Plus, Marvel has been badly lagging behind DC in the animated world. Sure, the MCU is top dog, but DC has the most celebrated animated catalogue.

There have been some real gems from Marvel here and there though. X-Men: TAS was one of them, followed quickly by The Amazing Spider-Man. The Incredible Hulk had a great first season and then turned to cheese. In later years Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was so good that I think it has strongly influenced the MCU. Avengers: EMH was cancelled so Disney could reboot into their own Avengers Assemble animated show, and it just wasn’t as good. There are many fans who would like to see X-Men: TAS and Avengers: EMH finished, as they just kinda ended rather than concluded.

I’d love to see both of these shows finished off on Disney+, and let’s face it, Disney+ needs content. Your move Disney. Let us know what you think of these X-Men: TAS revival talks with Disney? Leave your thoughts below, or on Discord.
