Production Of Shadow And Bone Season 2 Has Started!

Darkling and Alina

Adapted from the Grishaverse book series and named after the first book, Shadow and Bone has been a huge success. The show did a wonderful balancing act of the different parts and characters of the story coming together in the end. It also left off with a great cliffhanger where I wasn’t furious or disappointed where the first season ended. It’s annoying when a cliffhanger is too much or to little. I am really excited for season 2. Luckily, the Netflix series has begun production of season 2.

Filming Begins And New Blood Coming In

Actor for Shadow and Bone, David Wurawa, shared that filming will again be Budapest, Hungary. The first season was based on books Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows so season 2 could a combination as well. I guess we’ll find out since there isn’t an official synopsis released. The series will be getting some additional characters so book readers may have a good idea of what to expect.

Nikolai Lantsov is a prince who uses an alter ego, Sturmhond, and recruits a crew of soldiers and mercenaries to help Ravka. Tamar Kir-Bataar is a Grisha Heartrender and is a LBGTQ character. Tolya is a mercenary in Sturmhond’s crew and twin to Tamar. Wylan Van Eck, chemist and demolition expert, is the son of a wealthy merchant that joined the Crows.

We will be getting the return of the main cast from season 1. Also, season 2 will have 8 episodes. It’s still too early for a release date, but I think it’s safe to say that we’ll see the second season in 2023. I’m not even going to hope for anything this early so I don’t jinx it.

What do you think of Shadow and Bone Season 2’s production finally beginning? To the book readers, what are you hoping will be in this season?
