Professor X In Multiverse Of Madness Is Not The One From The Animated Series Says Writer

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in Deadpool 3 rumor/tease

Contrary to what some fans were thinking, Professor X in Multiverse of Madness is not the one from the Animated Series. So says the movie’s writer Michael Waldron in a recent interview with Variety. Given that Stewart’s Professor X in the movie has a yellow colored hover chair just like the old ’90’s cartoon, many fans felt this was a hint. However Waldron says that whilst inspiration was taken from that old animated show, this version of Xavier is unique. Asked ix Xavier was inspired by the animated show or the Fox X-Men movies Waldron gave a little more detail.

“A little bit of both. I don’t know if I’m technically supposed to get into specifics about these actors or characters, but I worked with that performer to even talk about making it different, so it was a different version of him. He uses a line from “Days of Future Past” that he says to Stephen. But also, we drew from the classic cartoon version of that character. He’s a variant who has qualities of a bunch of different versions of those guys from across the multiverse.”

Waldron also spoke about how the idea to bring these Illuminati members into the movie actually came from Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

“That’s kind of a combination of us putting forth, “Well, what if we did this?” But also, Kevin’s as excited about this stuff as we are, so sometimes those ideas are coming from Kevin saying, “Well, what if we got so and so? I’m gonna do it! I’m gonna make the call!” So he’s as excited about all that stuff as any of us. It’s a big, geeky team effort to see what we can assemble for that team.”

I’ve not actually seen Multiverse of Madness yet. However, I may be able to see it tomorrow evening, if the stars align. I am however completely spoiled with having to wait this long. Therefore, I already kinda know what the movie entails. Actually, I knew the cameos we were getting even before it released.

Still, I cannot comment at all on how effective the use of Professor X, or others were in the movie.

What do you think of Waldron’s comments that Professor X in Multiverse of Madness is not the one from the animated series? Thoughts below, or over on Discord as always.
