Batman Beyond was created as a successor of the two popular series, Batman: The Animated Series and it’s sequel. Created by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett in 1999, Batman Beyond followed a new Dark Knight. Terry McGinnis was to become the next Batman trained by an aged Bruce Wayne. This took place in a futuristic Gotham City that introduced a whole array of new villains.
The fresh take on the caped crusader was a hit with fans. So much that he has found his way into DC comic book canon and now regularly has his title. Fans have regularly asked for a live-action version of the series. But with the DCEU constantly changing, this seemed like something that was not in the cards.

Thankfully, reports via Full Circle Cinema are circulating that Batman Beyond may be joining the DCEU soon. It is being reported that a live-action Batman Beyond film is actively in the works at Warner Bros. Pictures. Currently, neither Warner Bros. nor DC has commented on this. The rumor is that this project could be announced at this year’s DC FanDome event in August.
The idea is that it would include Michael Keaton. If he returns as Bruce Wayne in The Flash, it would be likely that he will reprise his role in Batman Beyond. This is something that Batman fans have been begging for now for a long time.
This is exciting news. With Marvel Studios kind of taking their foot off the gas after Avengers: Endgame, this would be a perfect time for Warner Bros. and DC to swoop in and take the spotlight. We’ll keep everyone informed once this is verified or debunked. Now for the important question, who would you cast to play Terry McGinnis? Let us know in the comment section below!
