Ritter and Bernthal irreplaceable as Jessica and Punisher? Charlie Cox thinks so, or at least he doesn’t know any actors who could be a better job with those characters. Speaking with Forbes Cox was asked, as always about whether he’d be back as Daredevil? Cox gave the usual no comment, can’t say anything answers we’ve had many times before. However he also talked about his former co-starts Bernthal and Ritter. Of course, Cox again has no comment on whether they will return, but he believes there’s no one better if Marvel does want to use the characters.
“Yeah, I mean… again, I don’t know what the politics are, I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. I don’t know any of that stuff. I don’t know what the rules are, the deal that Netflix made… Whatever I say it can be taken out of context and it could be a headline that could mean something, so I’m just a little careful with what I say now.”
“But, the only thing I’ll say is I don’t know who could do a better version of The Punisher than Jon Bernthal? And that character is beloved, people are crazy for Frank Castle. So if they’re going to do it again, I hope they do it with him because I don’t think it gets better than that. I feel the same way about Krysten Ritter. I know that Jessica Jones, the character isn’t quite as well known as Frank Castle is, but what a performance. What a great show that was.”

I do think both Ritter and Bernthal are hard to replace as Jones and Castle. I would question Marvel’s sanity if they wanted to in fact. Whether that means either Ritter or Bernthal come back, we can’t say? There have been some vague rumors Ritter could show up in She-Hulk. However, I’ve heard not a peep about Punisher. Whereas, I’m pretty confident that we will see Charlie Cox again this December when Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theatres.
