Roxy Shih is a versatile director.

The Taiwanese-American producer and director helmed many different films and television series over the years across several genres of horror, action, drama, and even comedy. It was a no-brainer decision for her to join the Dark/Web directing team that also composed of Mario Miscione and Michael Nardelli.

The horror anthology is compared as a mixture between Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. Each of the episodes has a unique story that may be weird, off-the-wall, and scary in its own way. As a transition to each episode, there is one story arc that binds all the episodes together.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta sat down with director Roxy Shih on a video conference call to discuss Dark/Web after earning its Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing Team for a Digital Drama Series. Her recognition is with Mario Miscione and Michael Nardelli.

The series is also recognized with six other Emmy nominations, which include Outstanding Digital Drama Series, Outstanding Main Title and Graphic Design for a Live-Action Program, Outstanding Light Direction for a Drama or Digital Drama Series, Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for a Drama or Digital Drama Series, Outstanding Guest Performer in a Digital Drama Series and Outstanding Guest Performer in a Digital Drama Series.

Last month, it was already announced that Dark/Web won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lighting Direction for a Drama or Digital Drama Series along with The Bold and The Beautiful. The top honors for Emmy acting awards and Outstanding Directing Team for Digital Drama Series will be revealed in the second half ceremony virtually on Sunday, July 19. The chances are good for the series to pick up more trophies.

In our discussion, we covered a variety of topics that included the production of the series, team direction, story direction, and indie filmmaking.

Season One of Dark/Web is streaming on Amazon Prime.
