The highly-anticipated second season of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian is just around the corner. Being one of the view productions not to be affected by the pandemic and will still hit its scheduled release date.
Giancarlo Esposito, who plays the Empire’s Moff Gideon, believes that Favreau is, at least mentally, working on the show’s third season. Esposito mentioned this while speaking with Variety. You can check out what he had to say below.
“I’ve had a chance to have some conversations with him. So, I haven’t seen any of [Season] 2 yet, but it’s gonna be power-packed, and I think in Jon’s mind, he’s probably already writing [Season] 3.”
Whether it’s for the project he is currently working on and a future one. I would say it’s a pretty safe bet that Jon Favreau is always working on something in his head. Constantly delveloping future projects and improving his current ones.
There’s much to be excited about in Season 2. To me, one of the more interesting aspects is the path that Moff Gideon will head down. As well as watching the talented Giancarlo Esposito be the who takes him there. At the end of the show’s fantastic first season, Moff Gideon emerged from his downed TIE fighter with the help of a dark saber.
This rare weapon has been showcased in the Star Wars animated series such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The latter being the last time the ancient weapon was seen canonically until Gideon’s use of it in The Mandalorian.
