Take this rumor with an extra large grain of salt as the source is the U.K. tabloid, The Sun, but according to the outlet, Ewan McGregor is set to appear as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode 9. The first thought that comes to the minds of many Star Wars fans is that Kenobi will appear as a Force ghost. The only other possibility would be a flashback, and while it’s possible, it seems more likely that if the character does appear, it will be in an advisatory role to Rey.

With Disney maybe, possibly, putting all Star Wars Anthology films on hold, this may be the only appearance of Obi-Wan Kenobi that Star Wars fans get for a while. It’s worth mentioning that while The Sun is a tabloid newspaper, they did break the story about Jake Gyllenhaal joining Spider-Man: Far From Home (the newly confirmed title).
I would love to see Ewan McGregor return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in most any capacity. His version of the character was one of the highlights of the prequel trilogy (Revenge of the Sith is awesome, fight me) and while Alec Guinness will always be Old Ben Kenobi, Ewan MeGregor may be more loved as Obi-Wan.
