RUMOR – Jar Jar Binks Is Said To Be Appearing In The Upcoming Obi-Wan Series, And That’s Not The Worst Part

One of the more bizarre Star Wars rumors I’ve ever come across has Jar Jar Binks returning to the screen in the upcoming and highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series that will stream on Disney+. I could believe this if it wasn’t for the other part of the rumor, Jar Jar is said to be sporting a beard in his return.

In the words of one of my all-time favorite villains, Brick Top –

The beard part of this rumor sets off my bulls**t meter, it just seems too random of an aspect to be known this earlier, and it’s pretty ridiculous. I mean beards are cool and the can even be epic, a beard is essential to becoming a high-level wizard, or a space wizard. Beards are often representative of wisdom and can exude high levels of badassness. Most of the great Jedi Masters had beards (if they were able to grow one).

Which brings me to the question of, can lizard type beings even grow beards? Surely Yoda would have grown a beard by now considering his levels of wisdom and badassery. However, while this rumor sounds like it would come from Mike Zeroh, it actually comes from a pretty good source, MakingStarWars, an excerpt from the article follows below.

I’m told ‘Ben’ Kenobi crosses paths with his old friend from Naboo, Jar Jar Binks. Early work has been conducted for the CGI Gungan’s return to Star Wars. Jar Jar has a beard to reflect where he’s been and what his life has been like since they were all deceived by a great lie that ushered in the first Galactic Empire…I’m told there is a sequence where the bearded Jar Jar Binks and Obi-Wan talk about the past.”

I mean there are other ways to show what Jar Jar has been through since Revenge of the Sith, perhaps give him a prosthetic red arm or something, though doing that runs the chance of Obi-Wan not recognizing him. The beard just seems like a really bad idea to me, but as we all know, bad ideas haven’t stopped Disney in recent years, so we may be getting a bearded Jar Jar Binks.

The prequels have become more popular over the last few years, mostly thanks to them being an absolute f**king goldmine for memes. With that said, Jar Jar is still not very well-liked even my prequel fans, so I really don’t know what to think about this one.
