UPDATED- Rumor: Hawkeye Disney+ Series Has Been Delayed… Indefinitely

Hawkeye Trailer Shoots And Scores - It's A Very Marvel Christmas

UPDATE: Disney is refuting the claims that its Disney+ Hawkeye series has been delayed. We have learned from Julia Alexander, via CBR that a Disney representative has told her that the rumors are “completely inaccurate.” However, it is not uncommon for a company to refute rumors that end up being true. Often, they are just trying to control the narrative. It’s equally possible this rebuttal is accurate and Hawkeye is still set to happen on its original timetable.

We have all been wondering what the MCU would be like after last year’s end to the Infinity Saga,  Avengers: Endgame. Who would be the next big bad to threaten the universe enough to collect a large group of heroes? What characters will appear on Disney+ versus the big screen? Who will replace Tony and Steve as the leaders of the Avengers? These questions, and more, will hopefully be answered in the coming months.

We already know there are some pieces of the next MCU puzzle not fitting. Earlier this week we learned Scott Derrickson would no longer be directing Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness and now we got a new rumor from Murphy’s Multiverse that the Disney+ Hawkeye series has been delayed indefinitely. Add this to the obvious lack of cosmic films, despite claims from studio head Kevin Feige years ago that the cosmic world would become bigger after the Infinity Saga, and no news on Mutants or the Fantastic Four, and a scary picture begins to come into view. That picture is that the house of plans may be uncomfortable with their current plan, or the creatives are uncomfortable with the plan.

WandaVision has been moved to a release later this year and the additions of shows like Moon Knight and She-Hulk bring a lot of curiosity as to what the Disney+ side of the MCU will look like connectively to each show and the films. The fact we’re getting the pseudo-prequel Black Widow film and a centuries-spanning movie in The Eternals makes this writer scared for the first time in a long time about the MCU. Only two films, one involves a dead character, and the other is a new property of characters lesser known than the Guardians of the Galaxy were. Looking at everything together feels… like we’re lacking direction. It could all be in my damaged head, but I will assert my mantra of “in Feige we trust.”
