Rumor: Original Metal Gear Solid is Getting A PlayStation 5 Exclusive Remake | LRM’s Barside Buzz

A Metal Gear Solid remake, you say?

I hope you got your pack of cigs ready, because you might be back on another Metal Gear Solid. Or at least the original Metal Gear Solid. While the franchise has seemingly died along with the departure of producer Hideo Kojima’s departure from Konami, it sounds like the developer may soon be reinvigorating new life into it with some old, tried-and-true blood.

YouTube channel RedGamingTech says one of their sources claims that Metal Gear Solid will be getting a full remake. What’s more is that it will be a console exclusive for PlayStation 5, but will also get a PC release. They also state the sequels, Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and 4 will also be getting HD remasters, though not full remakes.

All this same, if true, this would be amazing news. The last time Metal Gear Solid was given a full remake was back on the GameCube with Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. While it was made with the best of intentions, it did lose some of the edge the original had. Some of that may have been some of the mystique that came with having characters with blank faces, but given how great the franchise has evolved over the decades since then, it’s certainly something they can overcome.

Of course, this isn’t all good news. The elephant in the room is the Hideo Kojima would likely not be involved. He and Konami didn’t exactly part on great terms. As such, it may be missing some of the weird cinematic flair that Kojima brings to all his projects. But, who knows, for a remake like this, that could ultimately be a good thing.
