While Marvel Studios has had a pretty packed film slate for the past few years, this year is looking especially meaty thanks to the introduction of Captain Marvel in the studio’s first female-led film, the conclusion of Phase 3 with Avengers: Endgame, and the continuation of Peter Parker’s story in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
So far, we’ve seen footage from two of those three films — a few different Captain Marvel trailer and one trailer for Avengers: Endgame. However, things are a tad more difficult with Spider-Man: Far From Home. When we last saw Spidey, he was turned to dust in Iron Man’s arms…so how the hell are they going to advertise this without somehow spoiling Peter Parker’s return to the land of the living? That’s the $10 million question we can’t all wait to see.
But we may not have to wait long to see how they do it. According to a new report from SuperBroMovies, the first look at the movie will hit tomorrow on January 15. Interestingly enough, the film was first rumored to be introduced at CCXP in Brazil. That didn’t happen, but if we’re going off the descriptions revealed for that first look, we’ll be getting our first official look at Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. This first look will also feature the Elementals, who have been teased ever since we saw hints of them on set.
I’m still waiting on pins and needles to see just how they’ll be able to pull this off without it feeling like a big joke. Doing something like, “Hey, I’m Peter Parker. You may think you know how my story ends, but it turns out there was a lot more to tell,” really won’t cut it. They have their work cut out for them, but on the bright side of it all, they have the good faith of fans. So that’s worth something!
And if you’re doubting this rumor, it looks like Even Holland is teasing something here…
So I spoke to Sony…
