Rumors On Possible Replacement Writers For Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

Depending on who you talk to or get your news you might get a different answer on what is going on with the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Is it just a minor delay with minor touch ups that the script needs? Or is this a larger problem that needs to see the whole script revised? Even with writer Hossein Amini no longer working on the project and pre-production in London put on hold and production moved to January of next year. But during an interview Ewan McGregor, Obi-Wan himself, told Variety that everything is “not really as dramatic as it might seem.” This of course would be the right thing to say regardless of what is going on behind the scenes.

But with that said who could Disney bring in to work on the Obi-Wan series? Well according to Variety they are exploring many different possibilities. For example it had been noted that their series The Mandalorian could be used as a proving grounds for people who want to work on future projects. With that said not counting Deborah Chow, who will direct all of the Obi-Wan series, two other names that pop up are Dave Filoni and Christopher Yost.

While they both wrote episodes of The Mandalorian, Filoni also directed two of them. If his name sounds familiar that is because the has worked on several Star Wars animated series like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which features Obi-Wan a lot. Yost also wrote a lot of episodes of Star Wars Rebels, which was co-created by Filoni and also has a history of working in the Marvel universe. But he has other obligations as he is also working on the upcoming Netflix live-action series, Cowboy Bebob, which is currently on hold as star John Cho broke his leg.

Of course the bar has been set very high for these Star Wars series after how well received The Mandalorian was. Also with it premiering on Disney+, it needs to appeal to subscribers as there is a lot of competition for peoples money. It would not surprise me if this decision is made soon so they could get back on schedule.
