Take this with a grain of salt, as Arnold Schwarzenegger is a shameless self-promoter and a schmoozer, but there may actually be another TERMINATOR on the way. According to U.K. paper The Telegraph, Schwarzenegger answered conclusively when asked if there’d be a follow-up to TERMINATOR GENISYS.
“I am looking forward to it, absolutely,” the Austrian Oak said, in no uncertain terms. How can this be, you ask? The $155 million only managed to muster $89 million stateside, and was murdered by critics and fans alike. The answer is simple: In the latest example of a growing trend, foreign markets saved TERMINATOR GENISYS.
Yup. While GENISYS did paltry numbers here, it managed to rack up $351 million internationally, giving it a worldwide cume of about $441 million.
While the originally planned sequel has definitely been delayed, as it was taken off of Paramount’s slate and replaced by BAYWATCH, it sounds like the studio is still planning on moving forward.
Schwarzenegger’s comments come a few months after it was reported that all future TERMINATOR films were now on an indefinite hold. I guess they figured out how toproceed. We shall see!
