Scarlett Johansson Joins Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit

Director of the fantastic Thor: Ragnarok Taika Waititi’s next film, Jojo Rabbit has landed A-list Actress Scarlett Johansson. The film is set in the era of World War II and will have Waititi playing a very different version of Adolf Hitler than we have seen before. Johansson will play the mother of a young boy who is in Hitler’s army and discovers they are secretly using their home to hide a young Jewish Girl. A high-level actress like Johansson will certainly draw more mainstream attention to Waititi’s latest project. At this point, the film’s cast is comprised only of Johansson and Waititi.

Since first hearing about the film, I’ve thought it to be an unusual concept. It will be interesting to see how Waititi portraying a nicer version of history’s most hated figures will be accepted by the movie-going public. The film was written and is set to be directed by Waititi himself.

Waititi, who was probably most well known for the 2014 vampire mockumentary, What We Do In The Shadows, and for his work on Flight of the Conchords has surged in popularity since reinventing the character of Thor in Raganarok.
