Scarlett Johansson Reported To Make $20M For Black Widow Movie

Yes, us fans definitely walked away from Avengers: Endgame feeling more than a little fulfilled by how everything came together. Sure, there are some folks who have some nitpicks here and there, but on the whole, the reception for the film has been largely positive — overwhelmingly so, I’d say. But for the actors involved, it also means something else: a potential pay bump going forward.

While recent years has proven that star power alone won’t drive audiences to theaters, it has also proven that the right star coupled with the right role will do wonders for said sales. For example, replacing Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow would likely result in a smaller box office haul than if she were to return to the role (which she is), so it would make sense for Marvel Studios to foot the bill as necessary to secure her place in the upcoming standalone movie. But how much is she set to make?

According to a new report from THR, Johansson will be making around $20 million to star in and produce her standalone project. This is obviously a pretty solid paycheck, and is a significant step up from the $5-7 million she made for her part in Avengers: Age of Ultron a few years back.

Needless to say, she deserves the pay, but it does seem to reduce the probability that we’ll be getting more of a small, mid-budget movie from her, which is unfortunate. One can’t help but wonder how they’ll increase the scale to increase the chances that audiences would actually see it in theaters.

What do you think of her paycheck? Is it too much for a standalone Black Widow movie? Let us know down below!
