Oscar Isaac took a brief break from the set of Marvel’s Moon Knight to introduce a passion graphic novel project developed with Legendary Comics called Head Wounds: Sparrow.

The project was announced at last year’s Comic-Con@Home event for San Diego International Comic-Con. Now a year later, the graphic novel is nearly finished with its sight to be in bookstores and online retailers in the fall of 2021.

Here’s the official synopsis of Head Wounds: Sparrow:

Leo Guidry is a bad person and an even worse cop. When he suffers a psychic head wound, his life on the edge slips into spiritual warfare. In a landscape of angels, devils, and everything in between, can a person utterly devoid of empathy find a way to overcome the forces of darkness that have infiltrated his reality? This is the world of Head Wounds: Sparrow.

The graphic novel is from creator Bob Johnson with a story by John Alvey and developed by actor Oscar Isaac and Jason Spire. It is written by New York Times’ best-selling writer Brian Buccellato (Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, DC’s The Flash) and features art by Christian Ward (Invisible Kingdom, Marvel’s Black Bolt).

After the introduction by Oscar Isaac, comic book fans were treated with an in-depth conversation with panelists Bob Johnson, John Alvey, Jason Spire, Brian Buccellato, and Christian Ward. The virtual online panel was moderated by Legendary Comics’ senior vice president Robert Napton.

It should be noted that Oscar Isaac is friends with Bob Johnson and John Alvey since their childhood. The story was inspired by Johnson’s dream following the diagnosis with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
