While 2016’s Captain America: Civil War managed to exceed all expectations in terms of its overall story, I’d be lying if I said it had exactly all the character interactions I wanted. And how could it? It had 12-plus big superheroes fighting for screen time, and they were all great.
But if there was one dynamic that I would specifically want to see more of, it’s the dynamic between Falcon and The Winter Soldier. In the film, we saw glimpses of how they irked one another. We saw it in that cramped car, and we saw it in their fight against Spider-Man. While it was all sorts of great, their animosity towards one another never quite felt earned.

Perhaps it was as simple as “we both love Cap, and we both want his attention,” but who knows? Speaking with ET, the Winter Soldier himself Sebastian Stan, summed up the relationship between him and Falcon through the use of familiar movies.
“To me, it’s like Midnight Run, 48 Hours, or a buddy comedy from the ’80s.”
Sounds like a film waiting to happen, doesn’t it? While these two have done great in their films, they still have felt secondary to Cap, and with Infinity War and Avengers 4 drawing near, it’d be nice for them to rise to the top of their own shared franchise. But can it happen? Stan seems down for it.
“We absolutely can [make it happen], and the right people to make that happen are certainly within feet of us right now.”
