Selena’s legend still lives on.
Netflix announced over twenty-five million households checked out Selena: The Series after its premiere last month. The series reached the Top 10 List in 23 countries, including the United States, Argentina, Colombia, and Peru. In fact, it spent 26 consecutive days on the Netflix Top 10 List in Mexico. For the United States, it spent the first week in the top spot, with half of the total global fans.
Netflix announced the conclusion of the two-part series premiering globally on May 14.
In the second part of the series, Selena: The Series continues the chronicles of Selena’s hard work and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigates together as she becomes the most successful female Latin artist of all time.
Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead) stars as Selena Quintanilla in the series. The rest of the cast includes Gabriel Chavarria (War for the Planet of the Apes), Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives), Noemi Gonzalez (Dark/Web), Seidy Lopez (Training Day), Jessy Posey (Stitchers), and Natasha Perez (Lady in the Water).

The first season featured nine episodes with another nine episodes for season two. The first season looks into Selena Quintanilla’s struggles with her Mexican and American identities as she seeks fame in the music industry.
Beyond the series, the excitement for Selena didn’t stop there. On Spotify, her music skyrocketed 260 percent during the launch of the series reaching more than 5 million monthly listeners. And the day before the series premiere, fans broke the Guinness World Record for the largest number of videos of people lip-syncing to the same song of “Como La Flor” that was uploaded on TikTok within one hour as part of the #todoscomolaflor challenge. No doubt that Selena is still one of the beloved Latin singers today.
