According to a new report from Deadline, Shawn Levy is in talks to direct a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. Right now the trade has no further details about this mystery movie. However they do say that Levy will make Deadpool 3 first for Marvel Studios. Here is what the trade had to say.
Deadline can reveal that Shawn Levy is in talks to come aboard to develop to direct a Star Wars film. We are trying to pry loose details of plot and writer, but this we can tell you: Levy will focus on this one after he completes the job directing Deadpool 3 at Marvel and Disney, the one that brings Ryan Reynolds together with Hugh Jackman.
Now since this story broke, Levy has himself confirmed the news on social media. Check it out.

Unusual if Levy is only in talks for him to comment. Perhaps it’s become a done deal since Deadline got the information?
Now, when it comes to what movie this is, let’s look at what we know so far. We know Taika Waititi is penning a script for a movie he will direct. Likely furthest along seems to be a movie by Damon Lindelof, that one as we know will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy as confirmed by Deadline themselves. So is this another mystery movie or not?
Well, perhaps, however this could also be for the Kevin Feige produced Star Wars movie that we know was being written by Michael Waldron. Is it possible Levy has that directing gig? Again, perhaps, but right now that’s pure speculation on my part.
Levy has plenty coming up. Not only is he directed Deadpool 3, but he also has a Free Guy sequel in development at Disney. Levy is also an exec producer on Stranger Things for Netflix which is getting ready to film their final Season.
Ergo, I think this Star Wars movie could be a few years away yet, and if so, that would allow the timeline to match with Feige’s movie. Though, again, that’s guesswork on my part and it may be wrong.
